Powerdirector works rather well for me. I've had it for years, but people tend to pirate it too often, hurting the publishers.

I swear by the Adobe software.. it has a STEEP STEEP curve to it.. but once you get it down, there is very little you can not do.

I am stuck with movie maker too but heard there as some good links to gain a cracked version of Sony Vegas. Might have to take a look at it
